WART REMOVAL Lancashire

When you arrive for your treatment at Lancashire Wart Removal Clinic, you will have your tag or tags clinically assessed by one of our nurses. Almost all tags can be removed. Following assessment, our nurse will apply nitrous oxide -N20- to the treatment area. This will be done with a precision tool that looks like a pen. Nitrous oxide, is very cold and it freezes the skin tag stalk, stemming the flow of blood to the tag. This effectively kills the tag.

While the pen does not pierce the skin, you will feel a sensation which is similar to having the nib of a ballpoint pen touch your skin. During the nitrous oxide application, your nurse may decide to apply the device more than once in the same treatment. This is down to the size of the tag. Usually, tags can be dealt with in one treatment session, but some tags might need to be treated in a second treatment.

After cryotherapy, you might experience a tingling feeling in the area of treatment. Cryotherapy is not a painful procedure, but you might feel a gentle stinging for the remainder of the day of treatment.  

In the days following your cryotherapy treatment, you will notice that the skin tag changes colour, becoming darker. The treated skin tag might feel like it is drying out and a little bit crusty. This shows that the skin tag is dying. A few days after treatment, the treated tag or tags will fall off altogether. You might find that there is a small mark where the skin tag dropped off but this mark will vanish in time. Once healed, you can return to your usual skincare routine.

Skin tag removal is a safe and simple procedure that is undertaken here, at our Clinic, by our nurse-led team of clinicians.

Some people are more prone to skin tags than others, however it is not clear why this might be the case. You may opt to have more than one skin tag removed at a time. Skin tags may sometimes look like warts; however, they are neither contagious and they will not grow back once removed.

Our preferred option – and the most convenient for our clients – is to have skin tags removed via freezing. This process is known as cryotherapy. Skin tags can also be removed by cutting them off or burning them off, however at our clinic, we prefer to use cryotherapy.
