SAFE, CLINICAL SKIN TAG REMOVAL
Skin tag removal is one of the procedures offered at our Stoke on Trent clinic. It is a simple and safe procedure led by our team of expert nurses.
Skins tags may sometimes look like warts but they are not contagious and won’t grow back once removed. Or unknown reasons, some people are more prone to skin tags than others so if you happen to have a few, you can get them all removed during your visit.
Whilst skin tags can be removed by cutting or burning them off, we prefer to remove them via freezing – this process is called cryotherapy – or by using a laser. This option is the most convenient for our clients.
HOW WART REMOVAL CLINIC CAN HELP
While the majority of skin tags are suitable for removal, it is important to first have them clinically assessed by a member of our team.
Once assessed, the nurse will apply nitrous oxide, also known as N20, to the area, using a precision tool that resembles a pen. The nitrous oxide is used to freeze the stalk of the skin tag, stopping blood flow to the skin tag and effectively killing it. Depending on the size of the skin tag, the nurse may need to apply the device more than once in the same treatment. While most skin tags can be dealt with in one treatment, exceptionally large tags may require another session.
The treatment is not painful, although, following the procedure, you may feel a slight tingling sensation in the area during the rest of the day.
After the cryotherapy treatment, the skin tag will change colour, becoming darker and it may feel as if it is drying out. This is a great indication that the skin tag is dying and should fall off in a few days. There may be a small mark where the skin tag has come away from – this will disappear in time as it heals. When it does disappear, you are free to continue your normal skincare routine.
Should you wish to discuss the procedure with our skin tag removal team, feel free to contact our Stoke on Trent clinic where our nurses are happy to help.
